As a Distinguished Engineer in Capital One’s Risk Technology organization, you will join a team dedicated to transforming risk management through advanced technology. Your primary responsibilities include articulating and promoting a technical vision that integrates AI and automated code transformation into the developer lifecycle, ensuring high-quality coding standards while actively contributing to critical repositories. You will develop full-stack applications with a focus on both frontend and backend ecosystems, balancing simplicity and flexibility. The role requires expertise in cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, along with extensive experience in data architecture, event-driven systems, and real-time architectures. Ideal candidates possess deep knowledge of software development lifecycle principles, site reliability engineering, chaos engineering, and observability tools like OpenTelemetry and Prometheus. This position involves working with large-scale, complex datasets that power machine learning models for risk prevention and regulatory compliance.
Articulate and promote a technical vision for integrating AI into the developer lifecycle.
Ensure high-quality code standards by actively contributing to and reviewing critical repositories.
Develop full-stack applications that balance simplicity with flexibility across frontend and backend ecosystems.
Enhance data products to continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) standards.
Apply machine learning concepts to engineering challenges, such as anomaly detection and test optimization.
What we're looking for
At least 10 years of professional experience in software development using Java, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
Deep expertise in cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
Extensive knowledge of data architecture including real-time and event-driven systems.
Strong understanding of SDLC, system design for reliability and maintainability.
Experience leading teams to enhance testing and deployment processes to CI/CD standards.
Practical application of AI/Machine Learning concepts in engineering challenges.
Proficient in Site Reliability Engineering principles and advanced observability tools.
