Join our team as a Vulnerability Scanning Engineer with a focus on database security, where you will manage and enhance our database vulnerability management systems to ensure accurate discovery, authentication, scanning, and reporting. Your daily tasks include administering scanning platforms, performing authenticated scans, validating results, and collaborating with DBAs and application teams to configure secure credentials and network paths. You will develop SQL queries for validation and triage, analyze findings, maintain dashboards, and integrate vulnerability data with ServiceNow. Required skills encompass hands-on experience in database vulnerability scanning, knowledge of multiple database solutions like Oracle and MySQL, SQL development, and scripting proficiency in Python or Bash. Ideal candidates also have expertise in compliance standards such as CIS Benchmarks and DISA STIGs, and familiarity with AI technologies in cybersecurity contexts.
Administer and maintain database vulnerability scanning platforms.
Perform authenticated scans and validate results to reduce false positives/negatives.
Develop SQL queries for validation, triage, reporting, and data quality checks.
Coordinate with DBAs and application teams to configure secure credentials and paths.
Maintain dashboards and metrics for scan coverage, risk trends, and remediation progress.
Integrate vulnerability findings with ServiceNow for CMDB alignment and response workflows.
What we're looking for
Minimum 5-7 years of experience in cybersecurity or vulnerability management with a focus on database technologies.
Hands-on experience performing and supporting authenticated database vulnerability scanning, policy tuning, and results validation.
Proficiency in SQL development for validation, triage, reporting, and automation support.
Knowledge of various database attack vectors and security fundamentals including authentication models, roles/privileges, encryption options, auditing/logging, and configuration baselines.
Experience with system administration on Linux and Windows to support scanners, agents, and connectors.
Scripting/programming skills in Python, Bash, or Perl for automation and operational support.
Familiarity with database security compliance standards (e.g., CIS Benchmarks) and ability to map scanner findings to control requirements.
