Overview
The evolving cyber landscape demands continuous research and development of emerging technologies to define the future state of Computer Network Operations (CNO) capabilities. The Leidos Office of Technology, supporting the Cyber & Analytics Business Area (CABA), is seeking a Cyber Researcher & Developer to join a multidisciplinary team focused on internal research and development initiatives in CNO.
The selected candidate will apply expertise in areas such as vulnerability research, reverse engineering, software and hardware engineering, artificial intelligence/machine learning, and advanced networking to address complex cyber challenges. This role supports organizational growth by contributing to multiple projects, developing proof-of-concept solutions, and leading or supporting technical demonstrations.
Primary Responsibilities
Support one or more of the following areas:
- Conduct reverse engineering and vulnerability research across hardware, firmware, and software systems
- Research and develop novel CNO capabilities (hardware and/or software-based)
- Apply security principles and networking knowledge to solve complex problems
- Analyze systems to identify new features, vulnerabilities, and exploitation techniques
- Develop prototypes and proof-of-concept demonstrations
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 4+years experience in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Additional years experience may be used in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in low-level development and CNO
- Familiarity with Agentic AI/ML tooling and processes for rapid software development.
Experience in at least three of the following:
- System-level programming or embedded systems development
- Proficiency in C/C++ and assembly (x86, PowerPC, MIPS, or ARM)
- Reverse engineering of hardware, firmware, and/or software
- Use of reverse engineering tools (e.g., Ghidra, IDA Pro, Radare, Rizin, Binary Ninja)
- Vulnerability research, including use of fuzzing tools
- Network programming and protocol analysis
- Scripting in Python, Ruby, or JavaScript for prototyping and demonstrations
- U.S. citizenship required with the ability to obtain a security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance
- Experience with Linux distributions, RTOS (e.g., VxWorks, Integrity, QNX), or POSIX-compliant systems (e.g., Solaris, BSD)
- Experience with signal and protocol analyzers (commercial or open-source)
- Familiarity with advanced networking and communications systems
- Experience with network test equipment (e.g., Spirent, Ixia, Xena)
- Knowledge of virtualization and emulation technologies

Pay Range $87,100.00 - $157,450.00
