As an Azure Cloud Data Quality Assurance Specialist at the Veterans Administration, you will join a dedicated team of data engineers to ensure the reliability and performance of critical systems. Your primary responsibilities include developing comprehensive test plans based on user stories, executing both manual and automated tests using Azure tools such as Synapse and Databricks, and documenting results to identify and communicate defects to developers for resolution. You will leverage your expertise in SQL, PySpark, and data profiling to build robust testing frameworks that proactively address potential issues. This role requires a strong understanding of cloud-based testing practices and the ability to work independently within a mid-sized team, utilizing tools like JIRA and Confluence to manage tasks effectively. Experience with additional monitoring applications such as Dynatrace or Splunk is beneficial for integrating comprehensive testing protocols into system monitoring frameworks.
Develop and implement comprehensive test plans based on user stories for data engineering systems.
Generate problem resolutions by analyzing and profiling data using SQL, PySpark, and Azure tools.
Track quality assurance standards to ensure system performance meets reliability and functionality requirements.
Document defects and communicate them effectively to the development team for timely improvements.
Build automated testing frameworks to proactively identify and resolve data issues in Cloud environments.
What we're looking for
3+ years of experience with Azure Tools for data engineering and ELT, including Synapse and Databricks.
Proficient in analyzing, profiling, and querying data using SQL and PySpark.
Experience building automated testing frameworks to proactively identify data issues.
Knowledge of best testing practices and patterns in Cloud environments.
Ability to work independently on test plans and sets with minimal direction.
Implement and execute test plans using CoTs tools or script-based testing with Python/Scala.
Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree in Computer Science preferred.
