Applied Research Scientist, Proactive Intelligence — Personal and Agentic Search

What you'll do

• Design and implement machine learning algorithms to process data across various Apple products.
• Train and fine-tune large language models and agentic systems for proactive intelligence features.
• Develop evaluation methodologies and ground-truth datasets to measure the quality of generative models.
• Build causal-analysis tooling to explain model failures and improve system performance.
• Integrate machine learning frameworks into Apple’s products using cloud services for scalable training.
• Write clean, maintainable code with appropriate documentation and tests for production environments.

What we're looking for

• 6+ years of experience in Python or C++ for machine learning modeling and applied research
• M.S. or PhD in Computer Science or related fields with at least 6 years of applied ML/product development experience
• Strong hands-on experience in building deep-learning systems and training generative models
• Expertise in creating scalable infrastructure for machine learning data, modeling, and evaluation
• Proven ability to train and debug ML systems, define metrics, datasets, and perform error analysis
