AI Research Manager - Machine Learning

What you'll do

• Lead and mentor a team of world-class ML researchers, fostering an environment of psychological safety and high ambition.
• Own the operating health of the research agenda, including performance tracking, career growth, hiring, and compensation cycles.
• Allocate scarce resources like GPU capacity across competing research priorities to balance exploration with long-term bets.
• Protect deep-focus research time for rigorous, multi-quarter work to pursue ambitious scientific goals.
• Raise the bar on research rigor and communication, ensuring strong experimental design, peer review, and reproducibility.

What we're looking for

• 3+ years of direct people-management experience in applied AI research or core machine learning teams.
• M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Applied Mathematics, or related quantitative field.
• Proven track record of building and scaling high-performing research or advanced applied-science teams.
• Deep conceptual familiarity with foundation models & LLMs, behavioral & sequential models, decisioning & optimization, or training & inference efficiency.
• Exceptional ability to translate complex technical milestones into clear business impact narratives for senior leadership.
