Boeing Mobility, Surveillance, and Bombers (MS&B) is currently seeking a Senior Software Test Engineer (Test and Verification) to join the P-8 Mission Systems Software team located in Kent, Washington.

The P-8 Poseidon program is the premier Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) platform for the US Navy and several international partners. Candidates will belong to an Agile software engineering team that supports software verification in multiple areas such as sensors, communications, networks, and weapons.

This engineer shall lead, oversee, and direct software verification activities, possess applicable domain experience, and work with internal and external teams across the P-8 Program. The selected team member enjoys working collaboratively with others, has a commitment to customer satisfaction and process improvement, and is successful working in a multi-contract environment. Duties include but are not limited to: developing requirements, technical coordination/cross-training, software validation and testing, and software verification process improvements.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Technical Lead Engineer (TLE) for the software test team, overseeing software verification campaigns for the P-8 mission systems software, ensuring adherence to established processes and documentation standards
  • Own and define the Software Test Plan, Software Test Procedures, and verification strategy, ensuring comprehensive documentation and alignment with industry standards to deliver high-confidence mission software for operational use
  • Ensure compliance with Software Quality, Product Security, and Enterprise Design Practices, as well as relevant regulatory requirements, throughout the integration and testing campaigns
  • Partner with stakeholders and collaborate with development teams to rigorously review and identify software requirements, test objectives, and test strategies, ensuring integration into the software development lifecycle and compliance with documentation standards.
  • Act as a consultant to the leadership team on long-range planning for test and integration strategies, emphasizing compliance with industry standards and focusing on cost reduction and capturing future business opportunities
  • As a TLE, train, mentor, and develop other leads and testers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, adherence to best practices, and technical excellence within the team

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. Interim Pre-Start & Final Post Start
  • 10+ years of experience in test automation and scripting
  • 10+ years of experience in Operating Systems: Windows Server, RedHat enterprise Linux,
  • 10+ years of experience in software testing, integration, and verification
  • Experience with mission critical software development practices including Agile development, formal qualification testing, and object oriented design

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 14+ years of related work experience OR Bachelor’s Degree and 18+ years of directly related work experience OR 22+ years of related, relevant experience

  • Experience establishing test requirements from supporting documentation, test plans, internal and external customers. Knowledge of domestic and international regulations (e.g. FAA, DOD, and NASA regulations) on the certification of test articles/vehicles to assure compliance of design

  • Experience with verification, validation, certification and qualification processes and procedures, including knowledge of governing regulations and compliance requirements. Ability to assess and document test or analysis data to show compliance
  • Experience with specification format requirements, guidelines, and change control processes. Understanding of relationship between specifications/standards and aircraft/product certification systems
  • Experience with allocating requirements (e.g., system, sub-system, software) and show traceability throughout the product lifecycle
  • Experience with software practices (e.g., configuration control, change management, problem reporting, software design, peer review, testing, and T&E specific practices), programming languages, operating systems and computing technology applicable to laboratory and flight test systems, including real-time, non-real-time, network-centric, monitoring and control applications
  • Knowledge of test program design (e.g., design of experiments, test plan development, validation)
