The Boeing company is seeking a Software Development Manager to lead the Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) Engineering Systems team in North Charleston, SC; Everett WA; or Seattle WA.
The Software Development Manager will oversee the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of Boeing's core CAD/CAM systems that enable over 20,000 Boeing engineers around the globe. The manager will partner with Engineering stakeholders and other IDT&S organizations to develop and execute integrated product roadmaps for the CAD/CAM portfolio. This role requires a strong understanding of modern software development practices, strong communication skills, and the ability to lead a geographically diverse team of junior to senior software developers and product managers.
Position Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day operations of a team of junior to senior software developers and product managers, set expectations, measure performance, and foster career development
- Develop and execute projects aligned to organization objectives; actively manage project milestones and report status to leadership teams
- Shape and influence technical roadmaps and architectures in partnership with CAD/CAM technical leads
- Partner with external software vendors to ensure timely delivery of software solutions and to influence product roadmaps in alignment with Boeing strategy
- Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships across Engineering and IDT&S
- Accountable for production stability and predictability, supporting major incidents/outages, and ensuring the team meets overall system availability targets in production
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices, and evaluate their potential application to the CAD/CAM product space
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics)
- 5+ years of experience in information technology or technical support
- 3+ years of experience managing or leading a team in the software development discipline
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Experience developing and delivering engineering and/or manufacturing software solutions
- Experience with Dassault Systemes CATIA and ENOVIA products
- Experience with full lifecycle software development using C++, C#, Python, or other object-oriented languages
- Experience with AWS cloud implementations and application migrations
- Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) using appropriate code versioning and build/test automation tools
- Experience in Agile methodology.Applicable and appropriate educational/certification credentials from an accredited institution and/or equivalent experience is required
