To achieve JJIM R&D's goal of growing the number of internally originated drugs brought to the market, it is necessary to enable expedited exploration of a larger and more diverse molecular space. This can be achieved through the implementation of automation, utilization of novel modalities, profiling approaches, and the application of data science. The success of these endeavors is dependent on the modernization of technology platforms that facilitate automated laboratory systems, seamless integration and analysis of generated data, and provide valuable insights and decision-making support to researchers. 

Join us as a Data Scientist and play a pivotal role in the creation of a suite of innovative biologics discovery solutions, developed through a dynamic collaboration between R&D Data Science, Therapeutics Discovery, and IT. These solutions will enhance the impact of AI/ML and advanced analytics in our drug discovery processes, accelerating timelines through improved, data-driven decision-making. Your primary focus will be to design, build, and maintain a configurable, user-friendly, scalable, and integrated suite of data pipelines and workflows to drive scientific learning in Therapeutics Discovery. In order to scientifically collaborate with our Therapeutics Discovery – Biologics department, the candidate needs a basic understanding of biology, antibody design, and protein engineering. This knowledge helps the candidate design and develop data solutions that align with our Biologics workflows, such as data analysis tools, modeling solutions, or visualization platforms.  

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Design, develop, and maintain our Discovery Biologics data pipelines, integrating third party solutions, and data ingestion from our external partners.

  • Collaborate with data product owners, data scientists, analysts, architects, and other partners to understand data requirements and deliver high-quality solutions that enable Discovery processes for Biologics.

  • Build integrations with Therapeutics Discovery systems, Discovery data repositories, data ingestion from external partners, and other adjacent sources.

  • Optimize data workflows with implementations enabling ease of use, performance, scalability, and reliability.

  • Monitor and solve platform issues, ensuring timely resolution.

Qualifications 

Required: 

  • Advanced degree in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Data Science, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields.

  • Experience applying ML/AI in scientific domains (drug discovery, biology, chemistry, systems biology, or related areas).

  • Strong programming skills in Python (preferred) and experience with scientific/ML libraries (PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit‑learn, RDKit, etc.).

  • Practical experience with data engineering, including data modeling, workflow orchestration, ETL/ELT pipelines, and cloud computing environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

  • Ability to work directly with experimental scientists to solve real R&D challenges.

Preferred: 

  • Experience working in a life science environment, ideally antibody or protein engineering

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Familiarity integrating data across HPC and/or MLOps tools.

  • Less than 10% domestic or international travel.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

$109,000.00 - $174,800.00

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:

Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:

Vacation –120 hours per calendar year

Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Colorado –48 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington –56 hours per calendar year

Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays –13 days per calendar year

Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year

Parental Leave – 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child

Bereavement Leave – 240 hours for an immediate family member: 40 hours for an extended family member per calendar year

Caregiver Leave – 80 hours in a 52-week rolling period10 days
