About Team:
Sam’s Club Merchandising team is responsible for building and scaling next-generation item and assortment management capabilities across enterprise retail platforms. This includes driving automation, improving data quality, and enabling seamless supplier and operational workflows. The team leads the evolution of end-to-end item lifecycle management by enabling advanced item setup, maintenance, and governance through AI-driven and automated workflows, including item onboarding, enrichment, classification, and variant management, while simplifying legacy processes. They strengthen data foundations by establishing a single source of truth for item data, expanding data synchronization with external partners, and enhancing taxonomy and attribute governance. The team also drives scalable assortment planning capabilities, improves supplier experience through self-service and intelligent workflows, and enhances product content management. Additionally, they enable critical supply chain and operational use cases tied to item data and continuously innovate using automation and AI to deliver efficient, intelligent, and scalable solutions.
Position Summary
The Senior Manager is a strategic and results-driven leader responsible for driving the vision, execution, and scaling of next-generation item and assortment management capabilities across enterprise retail platforms. This role leads cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact solutions that improve item data quality, streamline supplier and operational workflows, and enable end-to-end item lifecycle management. The Senior Manager plays a critical role in advancing automation and AI-driven (including agentic AI) capabilities to modernize item setup, enrichment, and governance processes.

This position requires close collaboration with product, engineering, merchandising, supply chain, and external partners to build scalable, integrated solutions that support business growth and operational efficiency. The Senior Manager also leads and develops high-performing teams, providing mentorship and guidance to associates while fostering a culture of ownership, innovation, and continuous improvement. They ensure teams are aligned to strategic priorities and equipped to deliver complex, cross-domain programs with quality and speed. The ideal candidate combines strong technical depth, particularly in modern architectures and cloud technologies, with proven leadership experience. They are accountable for driving innovation, influencing strategic decisions, and building teams that deliver measurable business impact.
What You Will Do :
1. Leadership & Strategy
- Define and drive the long-term vision for agentic AI, orchestration frameworks, and autonomous workflow platforms.
- Lead and grow a high-performing team of engineers and applied scientists.
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders across engineering, product, and operations to align roadmap and strategic priorities.
2. Technical Direction & Architecture
- Lead modernization efforts across multiple platforms and eliminate legacy systems.
- Architect large-scale agentic workflows, multi-agent systems, and orchestration layers.
- Oversee development of systems enabling high-quality and high availability.
3. Data Governance
- Establish and drive enterprise data standards, governance frameworks, and quality controls to ensure consistent, accurate, and reliable item data across systems.
- Implement and scale a Single Source of Truth (SSOT) for item data, including ownership of data quality, validation, monitoring, and remediation processes.
- Enable ongoing data maintenance and standardization through automation and scalable workflows.
4. Cross-Functional Partnership
- Translate operational challenges into AI-driven workflow automation opportunities.
- Collaborate with product managers to shape requirements, prioritize work, and evaluate ROI.
- Partner with operations leaders to ensure solutions address real-world needs.
5. Applied AI Innovation
- Champion innovation in multi-agent coordination, planning algorithms, reinforcement learning, and human‑in‑the‑loop AI.
- Drive experimentation, evaluation, and rapid prototyping of new techniques and platforms.
- Advocate for responsible, safe, and scalable applied AI practices.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Minimum Qualifications...

Option 2: 7 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
