A role in Supply Chain Operations means the opportunity to contribute to an emerging new team that’s adding smart and capable people all the time. You will apply data science, analytics and your impressive technical and logistical aptitudes to make sure that our products are processed efficiently. Your passion meets your vision when it comes to working the data, solving problem statements, gap analysis and asking the all-important question of “What if … ?”
Primary Function: The Group Operations Director is responsible for the readiness assessment and program deployment of supply chain transformation capabilities and inventory control quality assurance strategies across a geographical or functional supply chain region. This role works in the implementation of new initiatives/standards, the testing of future-state programs, and will serve to apply future operating principles within the existing operation(s) to drive continuous improvement within existing processes. They will monitor and assess transformation capability implementations through key metrics and project/program deployment plans to ensure delivery upon critical initiatives. Through their leadership, they will test and deploy processes and disciplines that evolve process definition and execution within the nodes aligned to the region. In addition, they will assist Field and HQ leadership with program deployment prioritization to enable successful implementation of new and updated processes to drive/enable continuous quality improvement and support the ongoing transformation within supply chain.
Principal Duties:
- Set operational objectives defined by existing and evolving operational plans to deliver on prioritized transformation capabilities and quality program deliverables.
- Responsible for the regional ownership of the field-based capabilities within inventory control and quality assurance (ICQA).
- Responsible for all ICQA metrics within the region and works with team to deliver accuracy throughout the regional value chain.
- Drives continuous improvement through leveraging Lean/Six Sigma tools to drive for detailed, multi-tiered analysis and improvement across the region.
- Deploys control plans and corrective action to address defects.
- Responsible for the implementation and subsequent monitoring/execution of standard operating procedures (SOPs) that eliminate or reduce defects within the node.
- Assesses processes to refine, simplify, and drive efficiency in inventory touches across the value chain driving down opportunity for defect and providing clarity in ownership/accountability.
- Monitors results from key metrics to assess and report on performance within the initiative.
- Builds a culture of continuous improvement within the region to anticipate the future needs of supply chain and build world-class processes, systems, and technologies in support of the known and unknown needs of the Target guest.
- Develops operational routines/rhythms to align reporting/metrics to action across core business teams.
- Coordinates strategy and development across multiple partners (Building and regional leadership, GSCL Operations, ICQA HQ team, etc.).Understand objectives of Field and HQ leadership to influence and prioritize Supply Chain needs and positively impact Target.
- Responsible for the coordination of communication between field and SC transformation teams to support testing on processes.
- Work with building leaders to identify issues with existing best practices, as well as, team capabilities to determine gaps and resolution.
- Identify and address emerging performance trends through close partnership with Field and HQ leadership.
- Provide operational expertise to accelerate the business acumen of building operational leaders, as well as, central support teams as needed.

Directly reports to the Operations Senior Director - GSCL
Job Requirements:
Minimum
- Bachelor’s degree
- 10+ years of experience working in Supply chain, must include experience managing a department (ex. internal Target Sr. Operations Manager) or equivalent external department/shift accountability for business performance.
- Proven experience in implementing continuous improvement and/or process engineering principles (such as Lean/Six Sigma methodologies) providing solutions for large scale operations considering multiple interdependencies.
- Travel 35-50% of the time.
- Knowledge, skills and abilities: Strategy, strong operational acumen, solid communication skills, ability to collaborate and influence across multiple partners, numerical reasoning and some understanding of data and business intelligence functions.
- Demonstrated experience in problem solving through data and analytics and applying solutions across broad-scale operations.
- Strong ability to think critically and creatively from problem scoping and definition to solution development.
Desired requirements:
- Master’s Degree or equivalent
- Leadership experience
- Multiple Operational rotations in a distribution center
- Certifications: Six Sigma Green Belt
This position may be considered for a Remote or Hybrid (known internally at Target as "Flex for Your Day") work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at a Target location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member's core role may be performed either remote or onsite at a Target location depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day. Work duties cannot be performed outside of the country of the primary work location, unless otherwise prescribed by Target.
