This technology team designs, builds, and supports critical systems used across OTV, Hulu, ABC
News, Streaming, and other Disney Entertainment teams. As part of the ABC Owned Television

The Content Systems Engineer is a hands-on technical leader responsible for designing, implementing,
and supporting mission-critical, cloud-native media systems across ABC OTV. This role drives the
architecture and integration of scalable, secure, and resilient broadcast and content workflows,
ensuring alignment with business, marketing, and entertainment objectives. The engineer collaborates
with cross-functional teams, manages third-party providers, and influences the strategic direction of
next-generation broadcast and storage solutions. The position requires deep technical expertise, strong
communication skills, and the ability to translate enterprise strategy into actionable system designs and
roadmaps.
Responsibilities:
- Architect, design, and optimize cloud-native and broadcast systems
- Develop and implement standards, policies, procedures, and documentation
- Monitor system health, troubleshoot issues, and ensure operational reliability
- Collaborate cross-functionally to enhance workflows and support business goals
- Manage resources, technology implementations, and third-party partners
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Broadcast Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 3 years of broadcast or post-production engineering experience
- Advanced knowledge of media workflow and orchestration systems (e.g., Telestream Vantage,
IBM Aspera, Dalet Galaxy) - Strong experience with cloud platforms and services (e.g., AWS EC2, S3, Lambda, AWS
media services) - Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language (e.g., Python, PowerShell)
- Experience with on-premises virtualization and storage solutions (e.g., VMware, NetApp
Storage, Dell EMC Isilon) - Familiarity with broadcast hardware (encoders, decoders, video routers, etc.)
- Understanding of live video transport protocols (SRT, RTMP, RTSP, NDI, etc.)
- Familiarity with post-production workflows (transcoding, archiving) and non-linear editing, VFX, and motion graphics software (Adobe Creative Suite, Maxon CINEMA 4D, DaVinci Resolve)
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement cloud-native and hybrid workflows
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, including Tier 2/3 support
- Excellent organization and communication skills, with the ability to multitask and adapt to
changing requirements - Ability to work early mornings, late nights, holidays, and weekends as needed for outages
and/or maintenance windows, and participate in the department’s on-call rotation.

- Experience negotiating with senior management and customers to influence strategic direction
- Experience developing and maintaining technical standards and reference architectures.
The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA, Bristol, CT and Chicago, IL is 129,300.00-$173,300. The range in New York, NY and Seattle, WA is $135,382 - $181,610 . The range in San Francisco, CA is $141,532 - $189,860. The range in Orlando, FL is $123,082 - $165,110. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
