Data Center Construction Project Manger

What this job involves:

Lead the end-to-end execution of complex, fasttrack missioncritical and datacenter infrastructure projects by combining deep technical expertise with advanced project management skills to deliver highvalue, reliable outcomes under compressed timelines. This role owns project performance across cost, schedule, scope, trade coordination, procurement, and client communication, ensuring the successful delivery of multimilliondollar critical environment initiatives for tierone clients.

Your day-to-day tasks will include:

  • Lead predesign efforts, including due diligence, constructability reviews, and value engineering to optimize cost and schedule.

  • Manage prime contractors and trades (electrical, mechanical, controls, fire protection, structural, and general trades) through complex, phased delivery.

  • Oversee technical and strategic procurement, drafting and administering RFPs for construction, equipment, and professional services; manage vendor qualification, selection, negotiation, and contract execution.

  • Develop and maintain project charters, logistics plans, and integrated schedules; monitor critical path, milestones, and recovery plans.

  • Own fullcycle financial management, including ROM development, baseline budgets, change orders, forecasts, pay applications, and variance analysis.

  • Ensure quality assurance and commissioning of critical power, cooling, lifesafety, and control systems within active environments.

  • Enforce site safety protocols, including lockouttagout (LOTO) procedures and safe work practices in energized facilities.

  • Serve as the primary client and stakeholder interface, translating technical requirements into actionable plans, leading executivelevel meetings, and delivering datadriven progress reports.

  • Coordinate crossfunctional teams to align design, construction, and commissioning activities.

  • Manage contract administration, compliance, and governance of scopes, insurance documentation, and approvals.

  • Implement risk identification and mitigation strategies, tracking performance metrics and maintaining project delivery under aggressive timelines.

Desired experience and technical skills:

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related technical field

  • 4-6 years of construction project management experience in data center, industrial, or other missioncritical environments

  • Direct oversight of trade contractors (electrical, mechanical, generator, controls, structural) in active construction settings

  • Advanced proficiency with project management, scheduling software, and financial management tools

  • Expertise in technical RFP development, procurement, and contract administration

  • Working knowledge of MEP systems, critical power/cooling infrastructure, and commissioning standards (NFPA, ASHRAE)

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and reporting skills, including executivelevel status presentation

  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders, priorities, and fasttrack deadlines

  • Availability to travel up to 25% to project sites

Preferred:

  • Professional certifications such as PMP, CCM, CDCP®, or DCDC®

  • Experience with designbuild or accelerated schedule delivery models

  • Familiarity with UPS systems, generators, chillers, CRAC/CRAH units, BMS networks, and alternative cooling technologies

  • Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, testing, and commissioning protocols for 24/7 operations

  • Experience managing multiple concurrent or geographically distributed sites

  • Demonstrated riskmanagement capabilities for complex technical and schedule challenges

  • Commitment to professional development and continuous improvement in missioncritical construction
