Role Purpose

The Functional Deployment Lead – POM / MAKE is accountable for the global deployment of Manufacturing Execution–related capabilities within the Transcend SAP S/4HANA program. This role owns the end-to-end implementation of the Manufacturing functional scope, ensuring alignment with the global process template, regulatory requirements, and SAP Clean Core principles.

As a people manager, this role leads a team of functional SMEs and analysts, owning functional delivery, workload prioritization, and execution quality, while remaining sufficiently hands-on to challenge designs, support testing, and guide issue resolution.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

Global Functional Ownership & Deployment

·       Own the global deployment of POM / MAKE-related capabilities within the SAP S/4HANA template, including SAP–MES (PAS-X) integration, PLM-driven engineering change processes, master data validity controls, Manufacture at Risk, and new product introduction enablement.

·       Lead solution confirmation activities with Global Template Owners, ensuring deployments remain aligned to the approved global design and regulatory standards.

·       Ensure deployment follows SAP Clean Core principles, leveraging standard configuration and approved extensibility patterns only where legally or regulatorily required.

Leadership & Team Management

·       Directly manage functional SMEs and analysts supporting the POM / MAKE scope, owning workload planning, prioritization, and quality of deliverables.

·       Provide functional leadership and coaching, ensuring the team can execute detailed design, testing, and deployment activities effectively.

·       Act as the primary functional escalation point for POM / MAKE-related topics within Transcend.

Solution Delivery, Testing & Hypercare

·       Oversee functional design validation, configuration reviews, integration readiness, and data dependencies across SAP and connected manufacturing systems.

·       Lead the functional execution of testing phases, including Functional Testing and User Acceptance Testing, and support validation activities in alignment with GxP and SDLC expectations.

·       Own functional support during hypercare, ensuring issues are triaged, resolved, and incorporated into continuous improvement of the global template.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

·       Work closely with other Functional Deployment Leads to ensure integrated end-to-end process execution.

·       Partner with IT, system integrators, validation teams, and change management to ensure successful adoption of Manufacturing capabilities.

Qualifications

Required

·       At least six years of professional experience.

·       University degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, IT, or a related scientific discipline.

·       Significant experience in Manufacturing Execution, ERP–MES integration, and SAP Manufacturing-related processes in a GxP-compliant environment.

·       Proven people management experience with accountability for functional delivery through teams of SMEs.

·       Strong functional knowledge of SAP S/4HANA Manufacturing capabilities and integration patterns.

·       Ability to remain hands-on when required while maintaining accountability for overall functional outcomes.

Preferred

·       Experience with PAS-X or similar MES platforms.

·       Prior involvement in global ERP transformations within the Life Sciences industry.

Other

Ability to travel up to 50% of the time both domestically and internationally.
