Job Description Summary:

Role Summary

This is a hands-on laboratory systems development position responsible for designing, building, enhancing, and supporting the laboratory software used by Coca-Cola laboratories. The role primarily involves hands-on configuration and coding work within the application and associated databases. The successful candidate works closely with laboratory teams to understand workflows, translate needs into technical solutions, and personally builds, tests, validates, and deploys those solutions into production. This position is primarily in-person with the option to work remotely up to two days per week and is co-located with the hiring manager in Atlanta or Apopka.

What You Will Do

  • Design, build, and enhance workflows, lifecycle processes, and system configurations in our laboratory application

  • Translate laboratory needs into technical tasks and deliver solutions using an Agile-light development approach

  • Perform hands-on development and configuration in development environments, followed by system integration testing (SIT)

  • Create and execute UAT scripts and partner with laboratory users to validate solutions

  • Resolve defects identified during testing and redeploy validated solutions

  • Document system changes in accordance with Quality Management System (QMS) requirements

  • Promote validated changes to production during scheduled release windows

  • Provide limited second-level support for complex configuration or workflow issues (not a primary support role)

  • Train and guide laboratory users on new workflows and system enhancements

  • Balance technical execution with strong interpersonal engagement and responsiveness

Who This Role Is For

This role is intentionally hands-on and technical. This role is centered on hands-on configuration and development work within the application and its supporting databases. Candidates may come from one of two backgrounds.

  • Option 1– IT-First Background: Strong hands-on experience with software development or scripting (any language), comfortable building, testing, and debugging production systems, LIMS experience is not required as LIMS and laboratory processes will be taught.

  • Option 2– LIMS-First Background: Deep hands-on experience configuring and building workflows in a LIMS platform (SampleManager or similar), may not have a formal IT degree but must demonstrate direct build experience (not requirement gathering alone), comfortable writing scripts, queries, or configuration logic within the LIMS.

This role seeks a candidate who configures within the full lifecycle from requirements gathering through hands-on build and implementation. Success in this position requires direct technical and informatics involvement.

Core Technical Skills:

  • Configuration & Build:Workflow design, lifecycle configuration, sample/result processing

  • Systems Integration: Instrument interfaces, barcoding, and laboratory system integrations

  • Programming & Scripting:SQL and scripting within our laboratory application environment with ability to learn additional languages as needed

  • Development Lifecycle: SIT, UAT, defect remediation, documentation, and controlled production releases

  • Quality & Compliance: Working within ISO/IEC 17025 environments and maintaining validated systems

  • Collaboration & Communication:

  • Work directly with clients to understand operational needs

  • Clearly explain technical concepts to non-technical users

  • Partner with IT services and vendors when integrations or infrastructure coordination is required

Education & Experience

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related technical field

OR

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline (Chemistry, Food Science, Microbiology, etc.) with substantial hands-on LIMS build experience

Experience:

  • 2-5 years working in laboratory, manufacturing, or regulated technical environments

  • Hands-on experience building or enhancing software systems (e.g., LIMS, SampleManager preferred)

  • Experience troubleshooting system, workflow, or data issues

  • Experience working directly with laboratory users and operational stakeholders

Work Location & What We Offer

Primary Work Location:Atlanta, GA or Apopka, FL only. Relocation is not provided.

$124,600 - $148,200

Base pay offered may vary depending on geography, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position, is offered.
