Position Overview
As a Sr. Analyst, Strategy Modeling & Analytics, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial success of CarMax Auto Finance (CAF). Each year, CAF empowers thousands of customers with flexible vehicle financing and optional protection products. In this role, you’ll provide strategic analytical leadership to manage CAF’s portfolio of originations, including credit underwriting, pricing, servicing strategy, and consumer behavior analysis. You’ll leverage data-driven insights to influence business decisions, drive innovation, and ensure sustainable growth. Role Responsibilities
This role is structured to balance two complementary areas of focus: approximately 60% of the role is dedicated to portfolio strategy and analytics, while the remaining 40% is focused on data science responsibilities, including predictive modeling, data integrity, and innovation.
- Lead portfolio strategy and analytics efforts, leveraging advanced analytics to evaluate CAF’s operations across originations, servicing, forecasting, and product management, and translating insights into actionable portfolio strategies.
- Analyze portfolio trends and develop testing strategies to identify opportunities for innovation and improved performance.
- Review and enhance business strategies using data-driven insights to guide portfolio decision-making and support sustainable growth objectives.
- Produce and present reports on portfolio performance, process tracking, and key metrics to senior leadership.
- Own analytical responsibilities for a specific business area, ensuring accuracy, portfolio insight, and actionable recommendations.
- Lead cross-functional projects within CAF and across CarMax to achieve strategic objectives.
- Develop, validate, and optimize predictive models and analytical frameworks to improve business outcomes, while developing model governance standards and maintaining thorough documentation throughout the model lifecycle.
- Identify and resolve data integrity issues while integrating new data sources—such as customer behavior and market trends—to enrich portfolio analytics.
- Research and implement emerging innovations and best practices in data science—including artificial intelligence and machine learning tools—to advance CAF’s analytical capabilities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an analytical field (Mathematics, Finance, Economics, Engineering, etc.) with strong academic performance.
- 2-3 years of experience in an analytical or strategic role with proven ability to solve complex problems using data.
- Skilled in communicating insights and explaining technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint for reporting and presentations.
- Experience with database systems and analytical tools (e.g., SQL, Python).
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in a related analytical discipline.
- Prior experience driving strategic initiatives.
Work Location and Arrangement: This role will be based out of the CarMax Auto Finance office (Kennesaw, GA). Associates will work onsite 5 days per week.
Work Authorization: Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Sponsorship will not be considered for this specific role.
