What you'll do...

Role summary:
The Senior Software Engineer in Marketing Tech Organization , you will lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable software solutions aligned with business objectives. This role involves analyzing requirements, creating detailed designs, coding maintainable components, and ensuring quality through rigorous testing and debugging. The position requires expertise in software architecture, continuous integration, and deployment practices, with a focus on performance, security, and reliability. Collaborating across teams, the engineer will drive innovation, troubleshoot complex issues, and contribute to process improvements that support the company’s mission and operational excellence.
About the team:
The Affiliates engineering platform team is integral to Walmart eCommerce, supporting core affiliates, content affiliates, and the influencer network, contributing approximately $10 billion in annual revenue. The team develops scalable, resilient data platform solutions using cloud-native architecture and advanced software design patterns. Members collaborate on API design, software prototyping, and DevOps engineering to enhance system performance and developer productivity. Focusing on data-driven decision-making and innovative technologies such as AI/ML and distributed databases, the team continuously refines solutions that align with business objectives and customer needs in a dynamic environment.
What you'll do:

  • Own delivery of scoped features and components, collaborating with cross-functional teams to align with platform goals
  • Develop and maintain clean, efficient code across Scala, Python, and Java, supporting CI/CD and automated testing
  • Build distributed, data-intensive systems using Apache Kafka, Spark, and GCP and API design and implementation
  • Integrate AI/ML capabilities and use generative AI tools to improve functionality and development efficiency
  • Contribute to solution design, perform code reviews, and apply design principles to build scalable, secure systems
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into actionable technical solutions
  • Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure reliable, high-quality software delivery
  • Mentor peers, promote best practices, and support continuous improvement

What you'll bring:

  • Strong background in software development with hands-on experience in Scala, Python, and Java, along with cloud technologies such as Apache Kafka, Spark, and GCP
  • Experienced in designing and building distributed, data-intensive systems
  • Deep understanding of object-oriented programming, API design, code reviews, debugging, and documentation-driven development practices
  • Proven track record of delivering well-defined features and components through iterative development and CI/CD pipelines
  • Solid grasp of cloud-native architecture and platform design principles, focused on building scalable, secure, and maintainable systems
  • Experience integrating AI/ML capabilities and leveraging generative AI tools to improve development productivity

The annual salary range for this position is $117,000.00 - $234,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
