About this role:

The COO Technology group provides technology services for the Chief Operating Office. This includes operations, control executives, strategic execution, business continuity and resiliency, data solutions and services, regulatory relations, customer experience, enterprise shared services, supply chain management, and the corporate properties group. COO Technology provides technology solutions and manages application portfolios for these groups to support modernization and optimization.

Within COO Technology we are seeking a Software Engineering Senior Manager to join the Supply Chain Technology (SCT) team. The SCT team supports Source To Pay, Procure To Pay, Third party risk management platforms under the Chief Administrative Office. 

In this role, you will:

  • Manage, coach, and develop a team or teams of experienced engineers and engineering managers in roles with moderate complexity and risk, responsible for building high quality capabilities with modern technology
  • Ensure adherence to the Banking Platform Architecture, and meeting non-functional requirements with each release
  • Partner with, engage and influence architects and experienced engineers to incorporate Wells Fargo Technology technical strategies, while understanding next generation domain architecture and enable application migration paths to target architecture, for example cloud readiness, application modernization, data strategy
  • Function as the technical representative for the product during cross-team collaborative efforts and planning
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for driving escalated resolution of technology roadblocks including code, build and deployment while also managing overall software development cycle and security standards
  • Determine appropriate strategy and actions to act as an escalation partner for scrum masters and the teams to meet moderate to high-risk deliverables and help remove impediments, obstacles, and friction while encouraging constant learning, experimentation, and continual improvement
  • Build engineering skills side-by-side in the codebase, conduct peer reviews to evaluate quality and solution alignment to technical direction, and guide design, as needed
  • Interpret, develop and ensure security, stability, and scalability within functions of technology with moderate complexity, as well as identify, manage and mitigate technology and enterprise risk
  • Collaborate with, partner with and influence Product Managers/Product Owners to drive user satisfaction, influence technology requirements and priorities in the product roadmap, promote innovative and intelligent solutions, generate corporate value and articulate technical strategy while being a solid advocate of agile and DevOps practices
  • Interact directly with third party vendors and technology service providers
  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources to ensure commitments are met and align with strategic objectives in technology engineering
  • Hire, build and guide a culture of talent development to have the skills required to effectively design and deliver innovative solutions for product areas and products to meet business objectives and strategy, as well as conduct performance management for engineers and managers
  • Drive architecture and development of cloud‑native, microservices‑based systems supporting large‑scale workloads.
  • Ensure platforms align with enterprise SDLC standards, security, compliance, and operational excellence.
  • Partner with architecture and product teams to embed AI‑driven experiences
  • Lead efforts to simplify developer and user experience through intuitive dashboards, APIs, and self‑service capabilities.
  • Act as a primary engineering liaison with vendors, influencing roadmap, feature prioritization, and service quality.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow high‑performing software engineering teams, including geographically distributed teams.
  • Drive a culture of engineering excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 6+ years of experience with strategic planning in technology
  • 6+ years of current hands-on software development & engineering experience
  • 3+ years of direct report management experience including, but not limited to, assigning tasks, conducting performance evaluations and determining salary adjustments
  • 3+ years of management experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • Strong hands‑on experience with:
  • Microservices and API‑driven systems
  • Cloud and SaaS platforms
  • Deep understanding of SDLC lifecycle, DevOps, CI/CD, and modern engineering practices.
  • Proven ability to work with and influence external vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a matrixed organization, collaborating across multiple domains and functions.
  • Proven ability to drive AI-first initiatives and deliver AI-enabled solutions that generate measurable ROI.
  • Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., .Net, C#, Java, Python).
  • Knowledge of data governance, compliance, and security standards in financial services.
  • Leadership: Ability to manage teams, budgets, and project timelines effectively.
  • Strong background in API development and system integration.
  • Experience with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong vendor management and negotiation skills.
  • Experience integrating AI and automation into enterprise workflows, with a track record of delivering business value through technology innovation.
  • Experience embedding AI/ML capabilities into SaaS or platform products.
  • Strong background in platform engineering, developer platforms

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.

$159,000.00 - $305,000.00
