As a Staff Product Designer, you’ll play a critical role in shaping the future of our Lending experiences within QuickBooks. You’ll use your expertise in interaction and visual design to simplify complex financial concepts, helping small and medium business owners feel confident and empowered to grow their businesses.

In this role, you will:

Lead design for initiatives across the Lending customer lifecycle (discovery, onboarding, application, activation and servicing).

Translate business goals into user-centered design solutions that drive measurable outcomes.

Collaborate and spark ideas with product managers, engineers, researchers, and data experts who are just as passionate about customers as you are.

Turn complexity into clarity, giving business owners confidence every step of the lending journey.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to input goals that impact the function.
  • Assist in planning and developing short-term team goals.
  • Facilitate cooperation and agreement among peers and team members for operational decisions.
  • Solve complex problems using data and expertise.
  • Identify process, tool, and system improvements that may impact other functions.

Qualifications

  • Design Craft: Participate in design planning, understand visual presentation and comprehension, and possess expertise in industry-standard design software.
  • Design Systems: Create guidance for and apply editorial feedback on designs, demonstrate comprehensive understanding and application of IDS components, and partner with the product design system team for improvements.
  • End-to-End Thinking: View work across product suites/experiences, demonstrate a platform mindset, proactively identify consistency opportunities, recognize project overlaps/dependencies, and execute with reuse goals.
  • Customer & Market Insights: Contextualize work with market/industry insights, explain design strategy based on industry trends, leverage data/analytical tools for predictions/solutions, lead customer interviews, partner with researchers/designers, and identify/address missing data.
  • Data Fluency: Regularly access dashboards, define clear success criteria, leverage quantitative/qualitative data for hypotheses/trends, collaborate with data partners for behavioral insights, partner with Product Development (PD) for clean data, use data for tests/innovations, and communicate data-driven insights to senior leaders.
  • Technical Acumen: Understand and partner with PD for common language and existing capabilities, advocate for product quality from concept to code, and understand machine learning models and rule-based technology.
  • Business Knowledge: Drive roadmapping/planning conversations and make informed, timely decisions.
  • Strategic Impact: Possess a clear POV on craft impact amidst conflicting priorities and develop innovative solutions for business challenges.
  • Communication & Partnership: Leverage industry knowledge and strategic insights, present work with polish and confidence, lead effective meetings, represent craft in various situations, grow conflict resolution skills, generate/maintain momentum, and manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Coaching & Mentoring: Uplevel others' skills across the function, proactively suggest team-building activities, and participate in hiring (interviewing, sourcing).
  • Design Leadership: Lead teams and oversee the execution of multiple medium-to-large scale projects concurrently with high proficiency, and lead design projects for their craft.

Pay offered is based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and work location. Bay Area California: $179,500 - $243,000
