Position Summary Do you have experience in FinTech or supply chain technology and a passion for leading full‑stack engineering teams that solve complex, ambiguous problems at scale? Walmart is building a small but high‑impact team operating at the intersection of Accounts Payable and Supply Chain, focused on identifying and resolving issues early in the inventory lifecycle to ensure accurate and timely supplier payments. The team will rapidly experiment—analyzing data, forming hypotheses, building POCs, and iterating through test‑and‑learn cycles. Successful solutions will be scaled to support Walmart’s global footprint. As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will lead teams building end‑to‑end solutions across UI, backend services, and event‑driven platforms. You’ll combine people leadership, technical depth, and delivery ownership, staying close enough to the technology to guide architectural decisions while empowering teams to execute with speed and quality. Key Responsibilities Engineering Leadership & Team Development Lead, mentor, and grow a team of full‑stack engineers working across React‑based front ends, Java/Spring Boot services, and Kafka‑driven platforms Create a culture of ownership, engineering excellence, and continuous learning Hire, onboard, and develop talent with clear expectations, feedback, and career growth paths Full‑Stack Technical Strategy & Architecture Define and evolve the end‑to‑end architecture spanning: Frontend: React.js, TypeScript, modern UI frameworks, and data visualization Backend: Java, Spring Boot, RESTful and event‑driven services Messaging & Streaming: Kafka for real‑time data processing and system decoupling Partner with architects and senior engineers to ensure solutions are scalable, secure, resilient, and cloud‑ready Drive alignment on API design, data contracts, and event schemas across systems Delivery & Execution Own delivery outcomes across multiple workstreams, balancing rapid experimentation with production‑grade engineering Drive Agile practices including sprint planning, dependency management, and continuous delivery Ensure high standards for code quality, testing, observability, and operational readiness Cross‑Functional Collaboration Work closely with Product, Data Science, Finance, and Supply Chain stakeholders to translate business problems into technical roadmaps Ensure seamless integration between UI experiences, backend services, analytics platforms, and upstream/downstream systems Communicate progress, tradeoffs, and risks clearly to senior leadership Innovation & Platform Excellence Champion event‑driven and data‑centric designs using Kafka to improve accuracy, timeliness, and system resilience Encourage experimentation with automation, agent‑based solutions, and intelligent workflows Continuously improve system performance, reliability, and cost efficiency at Walmart scale What You’ll Bring Leadership & Management 5+ years of experience managing software engineering teams Proven ability to lead teams delivering full‑stack, distributed systems in complex enterprise environments Technical Depth (Full Stack) 10+ years of overall software engineering experience Strong hands‑on background with: Frontend: React.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS Backend: Java, Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs Streaming & Messaging: Kafka or similar event‑streaming platforms Ability to guide architecture, review designs, and unblock teams across the stack Execution & Collaboration Strong delivery mindset with experience leading cross‑functional initiatives Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills Bias for action, high ownership, and comfort operating in ambiguity Agile & Operational Excellence Experience driving Agile delivery and modern DevOps practices Focus on scalability, performance, security, and long‑term maintainability Preferred Experiences and Exposures FinTech / Payments / Supply Chain: Accounts payable, reconciliation, inventory, or financial accuracy systems Event‑Driven Architectures: Deep experience designing Kafka‑based workflows and data pipelines Cloud & Platform Services: Experience with cloud‑native deployments, CI/CD, and observability Data & Analytics Integration: Building systems consumed by Data Scientists and Business Analysts Enterprise Scale: Operating systems and teams supporting global, high‑volume workloads At Walmart, we offer competitive pay as well as performance-based bonus awards and other great benefits for a happier mind, body, and wallet.
