Position Responsibilities: Leads review, analyses, and translation of customer requirements into the design of software products for embedded devices and systems. Leads the design, development, test, debugging and maintenance of software that is integrated into embedded devices and systems and meets industry, customer, safety and regulation standards. Reviews code for embedded systems software to run on specific specialized hardware. Leads integration of embedded software with hardware components. Leads analyses, monitoring and improvement of the efficiency and stability of embedded software systems. Leads testing and debugging software for embedded devices and systems. Research and lead implementation of current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks, and changes in regulations relevant to software development and hardware technologies. Advises on software and hardware integration domains. Leads tracking and evaluation of internal and supplier software team performance to ensure product and process compliance to project plans and industry standards. Leads embedded software project management functions. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience): Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline Active Secret US Security clearance 9 years of professional experience with C++ object-oriented software language 3+ years of experience leading and supporting software development efforts 3+ years of experience in software development for VxWorks or other real time operating systems 3+ years of professional experience automating software builds, unit tests, integration tests, deployment, and installations using a DevOps tool chain, for example using GitLab, CMake Jenkins, Nexus, or Artifactory Experience working with Linux 5+ years of experience with Agile development methodologies Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): Experience with the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) Expert knowledge of real-time target environments, including processor and network architectures, communication protocols, simulation frameworks and electrical interfaces. Ability to build, integrate and troubleshoot software components 9 years designing and developing software for a real-time or non-real-time systems 2 years of experience with mission systems or autonomous software development for military aircraft, specifically stores management systems or air-to-air weapons integration Experience with Open Mission System (OMS) standards Candidate should have strong computing skills, excellent written and speech communication skills, be customer-oriented, positive, flexible, and a strong team player Experience with containerized software and deployment Knowledge of general and real-time software development and testing tools, capability and usage. Real-time tool examples include cross compilers, target debuggers and test/performance instrumentation. Knowledge of domains, characteristics, constraints and products that require real-time software and influence architecture, requirements, interfaces, designs, and integration/test approaches. Real-time domain examples include control systems, human interfaces and signal processing. Examples of characteristics and constraints that impact real-time software include hardware/software timing, sizing, bandwidth, optimization and synchronization. Examples of products include aircraft, missiles, airborne/shipboard/space systems/ground-based operational systems and real-time support systems such as simulators and training systems. Knowledge of real-time target environments, including processor and network architectures, communication protocols, simulation frameworks and electrical interfaces. Ability to build, integrate and troubleshoot software components. Knowledge of how to derive and allocate requirements (e.g., system, sub-system, software) and show traceability throughout the product lifecycle. Knowledge of software architecture and design methodologies. Ability to synthesize software architectures and designs that meet requirements, characteristics and constraints. Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
