$3 - $5000000/year
Job Description
Position Summary... What you'll do... Senior Agentic Software Engineer (“Forward Deployed Engineer”) AI & Data | Walmart Global Tech Join Walmart as a Senior Agentic Software Engineer within our AI & Data organization and help make it trivially easy for associates — engineers, data scientists, and citizen developers — to turn ideas into AI-powered solutions quickly, safely, and cost‑effectively. At Walmart, we operate at Fortune #1 scale. Our challenges are complex, global, and deeply meaningful. Here, you’ll do the best work of your career — work that helps people save money and live better. About AI & Data The AI & Data organization within Walmart Global Tech is building a platform‑first ecosystem that centralizes enterprise data, provides foundational AI capabilities, and delivers intuitive AI solutions for all personas. We enable AI at enterprise scale — responsibly, securely, and reliably. About the Team Our team builds intelligent agents that make associates’ jobs easier, faster, and more fulfilling — from automating repetitive tasks to providing decision support for complex operations. We work directly with business stakeholders to rapidly iterate on agentic solutions that deliver measurable operational impact. We leverage the Element LLM Gateway to safely access state‑of‑the‑art language models while ensuring all data remains within Walmart’s network. Position Summary You will be a great fit if: You thrive at the intersection of deep operational domain knowledge and hands‑on agentic AI development. You’re comfortable doing field research in stores, FCs, and DCs — not just writing code from a desk. You can orchestrate 5+ AI agents simultaneously to solve complex business problems. You have a valid passport and genuine excitement for international travel. What You’ll Do Design, build, and deploy 3–5 major agentic systems per year using modern LLM frameworks and multi‑agent orchestration. Translate business requirements, SOPs, and operational workflows into production‑grade technical solutions. Work directly with store managers, FC/DC operators, and Home Office stakeholders to identify high‑impact use cases and validate solutions on‑site. Own the end‑to‑end system lifecycle — discovery → architecture → deployment → iteration — maintaining 99.9% uptime and <2s response times. Drive 70%+ adoption within target user groups through associate‑centric design. Travel internationally to support Walmart operations. Establish best practices for agentic development, prompt engineering, and LLM integration across the organization. Mentor cross‑functional teams, including data scientists, product managers, and offshore engineers. What You’ll Bring Deep domain expertise in at least one Walmart business pillar (Supply Chain, People Ops, Procurement, Retail Ops, Health & Wellness, Real Estate, DC/FC Ops), with demonstrated experience optimizing operational workflows. Proven ability to build and deploy multi‑agent systems at enterprise scale — not just prototypes. Strong coding skills in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar languages, with a commitment to clean code (SOLID, DRY, YAGNI). Systems design expertise: scalable architectures, API design, cloud infrastructure. Excellent communication skills and the ability to bridge technical and non‑technical stakeholders across cultures. At Walmart, we offer competitive pay as well as performance-based bonus awards and other great benefits for a happier mind, body, and wallet. Health benefits include medical, vision and dental coverage. Financial benefits include 401(k), stock purchase and company-paid life insurance. Paid time off benefits include PTO (including sick leave), parental leave, family care leave, bereavement, jury duty, and voting. Other benefits include short-term and long-term disability, company discounts, Military Leave Pay, adoption and surrogacy expense reimbursement, and more. You will also receive PTO and/or PPTO that can be used for vacation, sick leave, holidays, or other purposes. The amount you receive depends on your job classification and length of employment. It will meet or exceed the requirements of paid sick leave laws, where applicable. For information about PTO, see https://one.walmart.com/notices.
