The Opportunity The Software Test Engineer II role is based on site out of our Charlottesville, VA location in the Informatics Division of Abbott Rapid Diagnostics. Our medical devices help more than 10,000 people have healthier hearts, improve quality of life for thousands of people living with chronic pain and movement disorders, and liberate more than 500,000 people with diabetes from routine fingersticks. What You’ll Work On Position represents test engineering throughout the Software Development Lifecycle. Position performs all the verification and validation SQA functions (test case creation and execution, exploratory testing, test plan and test report creation). Position heavily interacts with the development and quality teams to ensure the right tests are being written and executed. Position includes internal technical leadership tasks. In addition: Investigate unexpected events, issues, or software bugs. Collaborate in cross-functional teams to trouble-shoot complex system-level field complaints. Report to team leadership on investigation outcome and recommend test plan. Verify fixes. Complete software testing and activities for development user stories within the SDLC process. Perform exploratory testing, system level end to end testing, develop test datasets and execute automation scripts (to ensure application software releases are of high quality). Evaluate test cases for automation suitability and execute conversion as required. Review System Specifications/Requirements documents, user stories and create verification test plan / cases (based on those requirements) and execute test cases. Evaluate test plan for sufficient test coverage. Ensure efficiency of test plan by identifying overlap with other testing efforts and adjust accordingly. Create verification and validation test plans, test reports, trace matrices and review with relevant stakeholders (dev and quality). Review other test plans and provide feedback to other users concerning potential gaps or overlaps. Review deliverables/activities as identified in the test plans for accuracy, consistency, completeness, and compliance. Provide input/feedback to development team when design inputs (system Specifications/Requirements, user stories, etc.) are being updated. Provide regular status reports. Use established metrics to monitor status and progress. The person hired will have these qualities: Effective verbal and written communication skills. Strong analytical & problem-solving skills. Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities. Required Qualifications Associate degree or Equivalent plus 7 years' experience, or Bachelor's Degree (± 16 years) Computer Science or related engineering field plus 5 years of experience. Relevant work experience with a bachelor’s degree in a related field. Moderate level of ability to conduct thorough data analytics & implement data-driven solutions. Moderate knowledge of Agile methodologies. Demonstrated level of understanding of test methodologies. Demonstrated success in technical proficiency, creativity, and independent thought. Preferred Qualifications At least 3 years of experience using these tools: Python, Selenium, C# At least 2 years of experience working with: Azure DevOps, Jira, GIT.
