Job Description
The team you will join: Europe Risk and Controls
We ensure customers access Wise services in our region by complying with financial regulations and meeting local requirements. We maintain Wise's financial services reliability and availability through proactive risk assessment. We build comprehensive risk management infrastructure that ensures compliance and enables rapid response to emerging risks, allowing Wise to operate safely at scale and provide customers secure, reliable financial services in our region. We enable compliant financial services by managing risk with minimal friction. We identify, assess, and mitigate risks through automated monitoring, compliance frameworks, and data-driven decisions to support the mission.

You'll be having a real world impact by building controls and automations that will enable Wise to offer its products to even more people and businesses across Europe
You’ll have onboarded and found your place through understanding your team and tribe vision and how you can contribute
You’ll understand how our values can help you guide your work
You’ll understand the reasons behind problematic payments and customer difficulties and how to go about solving them
You’ll be raising the automation level to enable scaling of the product
Understand our customers and the impact our product makes in their lives
You’ll help us scale-up and build a world class money transfer product by finding solutions to our technical challenges and opportunities
Qualifications
What does it take?
- 3/5+ years of experience Java or other JVM based language, experience with Spring framework and deep understanding of JDBC and database internals.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Distributed and Concurrent Systems
- A strong product mindset and passion for user experience, you prioritise work with the customers in mind and make data-driven decisions to fix customer pain-points
- Being able to work independently on customer problems is a key to success - you take responsibility and end-to-end ownership of your projects: drive and own them to make sure we hit the goals we want to achieve
- Close collaboration with product managers, data scientists, data analysts, engineers and other product teams is a must have and is something to expect to happen on a daily basis.
- Great communication skills and the ability to articulate complex, technical concepts to non-technical audience
- Experience working with relational and non-relational databases, query optimisation and designing schemas
- You enjoy writing testable code and believe in Test Driven Development
- You believe in and follow best coding practices, code reviews and open feedback.
- You have experience efficiently using AI-tools.
