Job Description Summary The Lead Engineer, Aero Technology Lab demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals/programs/processes for an area or business segment. Has the experience or expertise to solve problems. Able to develop and execute objectives for self and others. This role has the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals. In this role, you will be responsible for planning and executing aerodynamic / aero-acoustic component test campaigns in support of all GEA engine programs, as well as development of advanced measurement techniques for unsteady flow fields. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance. Job Description Roles and Responsibilities The GE Aerospace Aerothermal Technology Labs are responsible for experimental evaluation of aerodynamic and thermodynamic performance on turbomachinery components in support of all GE Aerospace engine programs, as well as development of advanced aerothermal measurement techniques. In the role of Lead Engineer - Aerothermal Technology Lab, you will be responsible to lead experimental component test evaluation efforts within the Aero Technology Lab and at partner organizations, measuring steady and unsteady aerodynamic performance of various turbomachinery components. In addition, the Lead Engineer - Aero Technology Lab will: Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned individual and team projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements Provide technical leadership to personnel / cross functional teams supporting the assigned project Implement plans with guidance to meet technical requirements of assigned components and systems Develop action plans with guidance to respond to issues / problems Lead or participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues Recommend, with guidance, the approach to meet the technical and program requirements Participate and present or review in technical and program reviews Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and / or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college At least 3 years of experience in Engineering position Ability to lift 25 lbs unassisted. Desired Characteristics Graduate degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college Ability and willingness to travel Be willing and capable of working in a physical testing environment at various locations (on-site and off-site) Minimum of 1 years of experience with experimental aero-thermal measurement techniques in a lab / test environment Strong oral and written communication skills Fluency in the English Language Strong interpersonal and leadership skills Strong technical aptitude related to components and systems of increasing complexity Ability to influence others and lead small teams Lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact Passion for technical excellence and technology advancement Demonstrated experience applying unsteady aerodynamic measurements on rotating turbomachinery applications. Working knowledge of aerothermal measurement techniques Experience with UG / Teamcenter or other solid modeling software Knowledge of mechanical design and assembly procedures Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
