Job Overview

Intuit is looking for an innovative and hands-on Staff Data Scientist to join the Mid Market team. We are seeking a Staff Data Scientist to partner closely with product, engineering, design, and data science teams to build AI-native data capability to enable data-informed decisions. In this role you will be building and deploying machine learning models using both analytical algorithms and deep learning approaches to identify Mid Market growth opportunities and define product roadmap.

Responsibilities

Strategic Impact

  • Build AI-first data capability and tools for product, marketing and sales teams to understand customer e2e journey and identify growth opportunities.
  • Translate complex data into consumable format and enable actionable insights to inform product and strategy decisions.
  • Influence product roadmaps and strategy by presenting data-driven recommendations to leadership.

Data Infrastructure & End-to-End Builder

  • Partner with data engineering to build AI-native data infrastructure for LLM consumption.
  • Perform hands-on data analysis and modeling with massive datasets. Discover data sources, build your own ETL pipelines to clean/import data, and make them "model-ready."
  • Apply Advanced modeling techniques (e.g. data mining, NLP, and machine learning) to translate unstructured data to business insights.
  • Build AI agents to automate analytics workflows

Analysis & Experimentation

  • Run experiments, gather data, perform statistical analysis, draw conclusions on the impact of your optimizations and communicate results to peers and leaders.
  • Influence product roadmaps and strategy by presenting data-driven recommendations to leadership.
  • Develop dashboards and self-service tools to democratize data access and empower teams.

Innovation & Leadership

  • Explore new design or technology shifts in order to determine how they might connect with the customer benefits we wish to deliver.
  • Mentor analysts across the org, fostering best practices in analytics and storytelling.

Qualifications

  • BS, MS, or PhD in an appropriate technology field (Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Math, etc.)
  • 6+ years of industry experience with Data Science/AI (or 2+ years with a PhD).
  • Strong proficiency in modern advanced analytical tools and programming languages such as R or Python (e.g., scikit-learn, pandas, numpy).
  • Highly proficient in A/B testing, SQL and Tableau.
  • Efficient in SQL, Hive, or SparkSQL, etc.
  • Understand machine learning principles (training, validation, etc.)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills: able to develop and use structured approaches to identify root causes and recommend resolutions: can present results in meaningful terms.
  • Solid communication skills: Demonstrated ability to explain complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to narrate complex stories with data, and be concise in the insights and how they drive outcomes with leadership and stakeholders. Proactive and inquisitive learner, seeks out and capitalizes on opportunities for change that enhance the business, rather than reacting to circumstances.

Bay Area California $ 186,500- 252,000

Southern California $ 179,000- 242,000
